Directors' Briefs

Chief Patrick Isioma Goodluck Onyeobi JP

Chief Onyeobi has been Chairman of Presco's Board of Directors since January 1992. He is a retired Secretary to the Bendel State Government and holds the traditional chieftaincy title of Iyase (traditional Prime Minister) of Asaba. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Modern History.

Mr Pierre Vandebeeck

Mr Vandebeeck has been Presco's Managing Director since 1992. He holds degrees in Chemistry and Tropical Agriculture Engineering. He started his career in 1969 in the Democratic Republic of Congo where he worked in coffee, cocoa, rubber and oil palm plantations. Since then he has been responsible for establishing several oil palm estates in Nigeria. Since 1991 he has been Chairman and Managing Director of Presco’s majority shareholder, sa Siat nv, conducting the company’s operations in Nigeria, Ghana, Gabon, Ivory Coast and Belgium. He is Belgian.

HRH (Dr) Omoregie Akenzua JP

HRH Akenzua is the Enogie of Siluko. He is a marketing economist, a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management and a director of AIICO Insurance Plc. He was appointed to the Board in June 1999.

Engr James B Erhuero JP mni

Engr Erhuero was a senior civil servant in the in the Bendel State Ministry of Industries and Ministry of Trade & Industries before becoming General Manager of Ukpilla Cement Company Ltd. Prior to his retirement in 2003 he was Secretary to the State Government of Delta State. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA and is a Member of the National Institute. He was appointed to the Board in July 2004.

Mr Vince McAleer

Mr McAleer joined the Company in October 2003 as Director of Operations. He has been involved in large-scale tropical agriculture for over 20 years. Before joining Presco he held managerial positions in oil palm plantations in Papua New Guinea and Indonesia. He was appointed to the Board in March 2006. He is British.

Mr Henry I.E. Omoragbon

Mr Omoragbon holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Business Administration. He is a Certified Public Accountant, a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and member of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria. Until his recent retirement he was Executive Director - Finance and Chief Finance Officer of AIICO Insurance Plc. He also sits on the boards of TRW Stockbrokers Ltd, Omon Company Ltd and TFS Finance Ltd. He was appointed to the Board in May 2003.

Mr Osa Osunde

Mr Osunde is a chartered stockbroker, and presently Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Fidelity Finance Company Ltd. He holds an HND in Accountancy and is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers. He is also a council member of the same institute and a council member of the Nigerian Stock Exchange. He is chairman of Afribank Nigeria Plc and other board appointments include New Nigeria Bank Plc, Oil & Gas Cargo Carriers Nigeria Plc, Niger Insurance Plc, AIL Securities Ltd and Adonai-Net Nigeria Ltd. He was appointed to the Board in May 2003.

Chief Omoefe F.J. Oyaide

Chief Oyaide was, until his retirement, Federal Director of Agriculture and Rural Development, after which he took up a diplomatic appointment with the UN in 1989 as Project Controller (African Division) of the International Fund for Agricultural Development in Rome. He was also Deputy Resident Representative of UNDP in Zambia and Resident Representative of UNDP in Swaziland. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Agriculture. Chief Oyaide is Chairman of Arable Crops Development & Marketing Company Plc. He was appointed to the Board in March 2003.

Mr Atedo N.A. Peterside OON

Mr Peterside is a highly experienced banker and is Chairman of Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc. He founded IBTC and was its Chief Executive Officer from inception in February 1989 until October 2007. He is an economist by training, having a BSc in economics from City University, London and an MSc in economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science. He was the Chairman of the Committee on Corporate Governance of Public Companies in Nigeria that was responsible for the Code of Best Practices for Public Companies in Nigeria, published in 2003. He is Chairman of IBTC Pension Managers Ltd and IBTC Asset Management Ltd and is a Director of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, CR Services Ltd and Unilever Nigeria Plc. He is also the Honorary Special Adviser to the Executive Governor of Rivers State. He was appointed to the Board in April 2008 and has previously served on the Board from December 2005 to December 2006.

Ir Helena Vandebeeck

Ir Vandebeeck holds a master’s degree in Agro-Economy and Agronomy of Tropical and Subtropical Regions and a post-graduate degree in Accounting. After working at Siat’s subsidiary in Ghana as Programme Manager for Extension Services, she was appointed in 2002 as Group Director of Operations of nv Siat sa. She was appointed to the Board in December 2004.
